This is the big image that sits Front Top and Center for Facebook’s timeline.
Width: 851px
Height: 315px

Profile Picture (for Timeline Pages)

Sits nested in the lower left hand corner of the Timeline Cover.
width and height are 180 px

Which will be automatically scaled down to the following for your Thumbnail:
Width: 32px
Height: 32px

When picking this image remember that it will be scaled down and used as your Thumbnail when you post.  As a best practice you should edit the image after it is uploaded and “Scale to Fit”.

 

Uploaded images

The images that you upload to photos or are stored from status updates.

Pictures displayed on Facebook

This is the maximum size of the image as shown in slide show or album.
Width: 960px
Height: 720px

You will only need to worry about this image if you are building a Custom App for your Facebook Fan Page.

Facebook Milestone Picture Size

This is the size you use for milestone pictures and Highlighted Posts.  These are special Posts that you make to mark either a Milestone (as the name suggests) or Post that you would like to stand out more than others, such as a Welcome Post. The image in the post will be scaled down accordingly, if it exceeds the limits.
Width: 843 pixels
Height: 403 pixels

Pinned post picture size

This is the size of the picture of your pinned post. It will not be scaled down, Facebook will take the center of the image and cut it out accordingly.

The image that is displayed next to the link when you click like or share somenthing.
