When asked to write a post about the top tricks and tips we use when staging, I had to really think about everything that goes into a house. The list I came up with are the basics for a good staging. ~ Jessica Lyn Rider
Home Staging (also called house fluffing, real estate staging, house staging or real estate enhancement), is the art of decorating or staging a house to sell quickly and for top dollar.
Top 10 Home Staging Tips
1. Keep it simple
Less is always more. Don’t over clutter spaces because they are empty. You will make more of a statement by using spaces efficiently and keeping things clean and sleek.
2. Generate a theme and stick with it
Cohesiveness is the name of the game.
3. Pick an accent color
Everything doesn’t have to be the same exact color but keep things in the same family.
4. Don’t be afraid to try something weird
5. Use floor vases with twigs, plants or cubes in awkward spaces
6. Leave out ugly day-to- day inconveniences
Toilet paper, trashcans, silverware, kitchen sponges, etc. are not necessary.
7. Area rugs work!
Put an area rug on wood or cement floors.
8. Steam your bedding, towels and cloth shower curtains or napkins
Ever wonder why some stagings just look perfect? Steam your linens. This will set apart your staging from others and give you the crisp look you’re going for.
9. Use props
Does lugging around bed frames, mattresses and flat screen TVs sound exhausting? Use a portable bed frame and an air mattress to alleviate the headache of using a real bed. Prop TVs and computers also come in handy.
10. Make it work
Stop stressing about getting the newest styles and fashions. Work with what you have. Do your research. Look for the most recent design fads and make it work. It can be done!
