Real Estate Plugins

Top 10 Real Estate Plugins For WordPress

When I build Real Estate Websites there are a handful of Real Estate Plugins that I always install.  Wordpress on its own is, well, splendor.  But WordPress with Plugins is magic.  If there is a function that you want your website to do, chances are someone else needed that same function and a WordPress Developer has created a plugin for it.

Always take caution when using WordPress Plugins, they are not all safe.  In addition, if the developer is not quality the code can be bad and break your site.  Some may be incompatible with your current theme, or other plugins installed, or some may be so code heavy that your site will perform poorly.  Before you install any plugin make sure that you verify it is a quality plugin.

I have personally run all of these plugins on many, many sites and they have always been safe.

Top 10 Real Estate Plugins

1.  IDX (cost)

A Real Estate Website without IDX is like a car-lot with no cars.  I come to a car-lot to see cars.  I come to a real estate website to see Real Estate.  I am sure that the car-lot salesperson feels like just his or her presence should be enough to sell you a car. After all, they have sold many cars in the past.  They also have some really cool information about cars.  And have won multiple awards for selling cars.  But, without cars on the car-lot, they are not going to sell any cars.

2.  Formidable Pro (cost)

No website worth it’s salts should be without a form builder.

If you are interested I cover this subject in more depth here:  Call To Action

There are many Form Builder Plugins to choose from.  So why do I recommend Formidable Pro.  There are 2 form builder’s that are heads and tails above the rest…  Gravity Forms and Formidable Pro.  I choose Formidable because it is a lifetime license, and gravity forms is a yearly license.

They both offer a lite, or free, version, but it lacks the features that makes them so powerful.

2a.  Formidable for Mailchimp

This plugin comes free with your purchase of Formidable Pro.  What it does is allows you to integrate your Mailchimp Email Marketing account.  That way, when people fill out your website forms, their contact info will be automagically dropped into your Email Marketing campaign.

3.  Max Buttons (free)

This little gem allows you to make beautiful and clickable buttons.  You can easily create text shadowing, box shadowing, gradients, border radius and more with this plugin.

There is a “Pro” paid version, that I have personally purchased.  It allows you to customize even further and is probably not necessary for most users.

4.  Simple Real Estate Pack (free)

I am surprised that this plugin only gets a 3 star rating.  I think it is super cool, and works very well.

Simple Real Estate Pack is a package of real estate tools and widgets designed specifically for real estate industry blogs and web sites. The plugin includes mortgage and home affordability calculators, closing cost estimator, live mortgage rates, Trulia and ALTOS statistical charts, local schools, business listings from Yelp and Google Maps.

5.  WP Customer Review (free)

Do a local business search on Google and what do you see?  Chances are you will find a review site.  Google reviews or Yelp are usually near the top.  If your clients search for your reviews make it easy to find and on your website.

The Customer Review plugin adds a review page to your WordPress Website that your clients can use and give you a rating based on the 5 star rating system.  And you have the ability to moderate the reviews.

7. Triberr (free)

Get your fellow real estate blogger’s to help promote you!  In turn you will be helping to promote them… a Win/Win.  Everyday blogger’s that do ver  y similar things that I do are sharing my posts on their Twitter feed, Facebook Page, Linkedin Profile, Pinterest Boards and more.  The reason they do this is because we are part of a mutually beneficial niche industry Tribe.  And everyday I post content from these people on my social media channels.

Getting involved in a mutually beneficial Tribe that is active and helpful can be quite challenging on your own.  Triberr makes it easy.

You will need to create a Triberr account:  You can read more about what makes Triberr a must have here:  Build  A Blogging Network

8.  WordPress SEO (free)

There is not a good reason that you should Not have this plugin!  It is true that WordPress on its own is good for SEO, but it is just that much better with the WordPress SEO plugin.

9.  Mortgage Loan Calculator (free)

My brother bought a house a couple of months ago, and while doing searches on the web he never calculated his projected monthly payments.  I asked him why.  He said that he had not been able to find a website to do it.  This is a super handy tool to have accessible to your potential clients.

This is the best Mortgage Loan Calculator plugin.

10. | Jetpack & Akismet | (free)

Previously there was a benefit to using over and that was that you got features built-in that the latter did not get… but that is not the case anymore with Jetpack.

Jetpack connects to a account and brings that added power to your site in the form of a plugin.

Stats, Social Sharing, Mobile Site, Caching, Premium Commenting, Enhanced Distribution, Carousel, Tiled Galleries and more.

Akismet has been added to installs as long as I can remember and is still the best Spam Blocker.

 W3 Total Cache

This plugin is a must have for me.  I did not add it to the Top 10 because of its difficulty to manage.  This plugin deserves to be in the Top 10 as far as performance goes, but can be a bit difficult to set up and if not set up correctly can cause serious errors on your Real Estate Website.

What it does is Cache or Pre-Load your Database, CSS, HTML, and JavaScript code on your server so that your website loads faster.  Used with Cloudflare speeds up your site significantly.

Oh the mortgage payoff calculator is a huge tool to have. I’m surprised your brother had a hard time finding one as you would think that’s got to be one of the main things people are looking for when buying a home. Although its unfortunate that many people don’t do that type of front end research and many times just take whatever advice the bank says to do (yikes!) Thanks for the post I found it very handy and glad to see there are more people putting a mortgage payoff calculator on sites these days.
