Why follow-up is worth doing

Your next deal may already
be in your database.

“We’re waiting until spring.” “We need to sell first.” “My sister is thinking about buying.” Those conversations are easy to lose in a busy week. They can also be the beginning of your next transaction.

01 / APPOINTMENTS

Get back in the conversation.

The buyer’s lease is almost up. The seller’s remodel is finished. Remember what they told you, reconnect, and ask about the next step.

02 / CLOSINGS & COMMISSION

Be there when they’re ready.

When they’re ready to tour homes or talk about listing, be part of that conversation. That’s your chance to earn the closing and the commission.

03 / REPEAT BUSINESS & REFERRALS

Be the agent they remember.

Stay useful after closing. Be the agent they think of when a neighbor is selling, a coworker is buying, or they’re ready to move again.

04 / FIVE-STAR REVIEWS

Give them a reason to rave.

Give clients a reason to say, “She always got back to us,” or “He did exactly what he promised.” That’s service worth mentioning in a review.

What is one missed client worth?

One missed follow-up can mean one lost appointment, referral, or transaction. You don’t need many recovered opportunities for a $97 system to pay for itself.

Put it to work

Ten people.
Three simple steps.

  1. Choose ten people.

The seller you met last month. The buyer who paused. The past client waiting for that contractor’s name. Start where there’s a real reason to reconnect.

  2. Give them a reason to hear from you.

Send the information. Answer the question. Ask whether their plans have changed. Use a message from the library when it fits, then make it your own.

  3. Remember what they tell you.

Still waiting until spring? Wants to see a home Saturday? Record the conversation and set the next action so you can pick up where you left off.

A real excerpt from the kit

Turn “I’ll send that” into “Here it is.”

A homeowner asked for comparable sales. You said you’d send them. Once the report is ready, Message 11 gives you a starting point:

Hi [First name], it’s [Agent name]. Here’s the [Promised item] I promised: [Link]. Take a look at [Specific takeaway] first. If anything needs clarification, you’re welcome to send me the part you’re looking at.

You kept your word. Log the delivery, clear the completed task, and record any next step you agreed on.

Personalize the wording, verify the item and link, and confirm the channel is appropriate before sending.

From Jason Fox

I’ve lost business this way, too.

I had a promising listing appointment with someone I knew personally. He was about a year away from selling. We stayed in touch at first, then lost the rhythm. Later, I learned he had signed with another agent.

He didn’t owe us the listing. But a great appointment and a personal relationship hadn’t kept us in the conversation.

That experience is part of why Follow-Up is System 02 in The 14 Systems, and why I built this kit to help you put it into practice.

Before you buy

A few questions before you start.

Who is this kit for?

Agents who know they have people to follow up with, but keep getting pulled into the transaction right in front of them. If buyers, future sellers, or past clients are slipping out of the conversation, this kit gives you a practical starting point.

I already have a CRM. Do I need this?

A CRM can hold every name in your business and still leave you wondering who to call today. Use the kit to plan your next actions or review priorities alongside your CRM. If your current system already gets that work done consistently, you may not need it. Keep detailed activity history in one place to avoid double entry.

What software do I need?

You’ll need spreadsheet software for the .xlsx workbooks, a PDF reader, and software that opens .docx files if you want to edit the Word documents. The workbooks use formulas, dropdowns, filters, and protection. Full compatibility across Excel, Google Sheets, and other apps has not been verified. Test a copy before adding real client information. Plan on desktop setup; mobile use has not been verified.

Does this automate my follow-up?

You make the calls, send the messages, and keep the relationships personal. The kit helps you decide what needs attention and record what happens next. You maintain the workbook manually, including its review date and Contacts sheet; Activity Log entries don’t update Contacts automatically. Confirm permission and communication preferences before reaching out. The workbook does not verify permission or block sending.

What happens after I buy?

Download the ZIP, extract the seven files, and open the Start Here PDF. Choose ten people with the Find Your First Ten worksheet, then set up your working workbook. You can start with your existing database; there’s no new CRM to move into.

What support is included?

Help with your purchase or accessing the download is included. You work through the guide and examples at your own pace. Coaching, CRM setup, custom workflows, and individual database review are not included.

Can I get a refund?

All sales are final. No refunds. This is a digital download. Review the contents, software requirements, and support scope before purchasing. Purchase and download assistance is available if you have trouble accessing your files.

Will this guarantee appointments or commissions?

No. You still have to earn the appointment, serve the client, and close the transaction. The kit supports the follow-up. Your relationships, effort, judgment, and market affect the result.
